Tufts University Graduate Program in Neuroscience

Welcome to the Neuroscience Program

Welcome to the Graduate Program in Neuroscience at Tufts University School of Medicine, a member of the Sackler School Integrated Studies Program (ISP). We are based in newly renovated space in the Neuroscience Department, occupying three floors of the Tufts Medical School research complex in downtown Boston. The research programs of the 20+ faculty members incorporate a broad range of approaches - from molecular to systems analysis - to understand the form and function of the nervous system, with a particular emphasis on the synapse. The graduate course of study, likewise, strongly emphasizes multidisciplinary training to prepare students for research careers in the complex field of neuroscience. Such training is additionally promoted through the technical expertise and research facilities offered by the Tufts Center for Neuroscience Research (CNR).

The Program maintains an open, interactive, and intellectual learning environment. Program members interact informally on a daily basis and come together more formally at weekly seminars, evening neuroscience presentations, the annual neuroscience retreat, departmental parties, and the Sackler relays. Tufts Neuroscience students also organize the Boston-area Brain Bee, a component of the Society for Neuroscience Brain Awareness Week, and actively participate in Gap Junction - a secondary-school outreach program in Boston.
